Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the children of Sandra Osmond (nee Macfarlane) share the news of her passing.  Sandra is predeceased by her husband Gerry, and her parents Alex and Florence MacFarlane. Left with happy memories are her beloved sister Judy Macfarlane; her children, Gillian and Doug Reid, Tracey and Jeffrey Pittman, and Ian and Suzanne Osmond; her grandchildren Joshua (Victoria), Gregory (Jennifer), Allyson, and Kaitlyn (Ben) Reid, Jack, Sophie and Rachel Pittman, and Thomas and Justin Osmond; sister-in-law Frances Osmond and brother-in-law Ronald (Betty) Osmond, nieces and nephews, and many people who she cared for such as family, including Amie Foley.   Sandra recently welcomed her first great-grandchild, Parker Elizabeth Reid, into the world with delight.

Throughout her life, Sandra enjoyed a large circle of deep and enduring friendships from her school days at Prince of Wales Collegiate and her dedicated service to Bethesda Pentecostal Church.  Sandra grew up in the iconic Four Sisters houses on Temperance Street and spent her holidays at the “summer home” on Neary’s Pond.  After a very brief career in the Steers’ advertising department, Sandra married Gerry Osmond and stepped into the role of World’s Best Mom, and later World’s Best Nanny.  Her home was always filled with bible study groups, youth group socials, parties, and individuals needing a cup of tea and a kind word. Sandra’s creativity shone through her volunteer activities with religious and community organizations such as the Children’s Wish Foundation.  Throughout her life, Sandra made the world a more beautiful place through her limitless kindness, generosity, and sense of humour (not to mention her impeccable fashion sense and lipstick).  She was God’s love in action.  Alternatively, do a small act of kindness to reflect the light that Sandra brought to this world.   We would love to hear about it.  A special thank you to her sister-in-Law Frances Osmond, who made it possible for Mom to remain in her home as her memory failed, and to the medical professionals who ensured she had a peaceful passing.

Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2:00 to 4:00, and 7:00 to 9:00 on Friday, June 25th.

Loved ones wishing to attend her funeral at Bethesda Pentecostal Church at 11:00 on Saturday, June 26th should register here. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon’s or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
