Join a Small Group

Small groups are where the deepest and most authentic relationships at Bethesda are grown.

Our goals for Small Group gatherings are to provide an opportunity for genuine community to be experienced as we engage one another, grow together in discipleship, and impact our city in ways we couldn’t do alone.

Bethesda has a number of active Small Groups that include a variety of demographics. The topic of study and time of each group’s meeting will vary based on the interests and schedules of those involved.

If you are interested in joining an in-person or online small group, simply click below to view our group listing. Also, if you have any questions, you can email our Small Groups Director, Ralph Cann or our Connections Pastor, Rob Lodge.

H.o.s.t a Small Group

H.O.S.T simply means have a heart for others, offer an invite to join online/open your place (in person)/, serve a snack (in person), and turn on the video. There is no long-term commitment. We recommend 4-6 weeks.

Some quick tips to H.O.S.T

  1. Select Your Resource. Rightnow Media is the main service we use to resource our small groups, however, there is a variety of resources you can access. Click here to learn more about all resources for your small group.

  2. Invite Your Friends. Small Groups are all about community. Invite some friends to gather together at your place, at a local restaurant or coffee shop, or some other venue. Choose how often you will meet (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.,) and go from there.

  3. Choose Your Platform (for Online Groups). There are several free services to use such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, Skype, Facetime, plus others. There are pros and cons to each. Pick what works best for you and your group.

If you are interested in gathering some friends together and hosting a group, we would gladly help you. Click below to get started.

Once you conclude your short-term study, we encourage you to follow up with our Small Group Director. If you feel you would like to become a Small Group Leader, you submit an application HERE.

Lead a Small Group

Leading a small group is similar to hosting a group, but comes with greater accountability and responsibility. Small Group Leaders are responsible for the group, they ensure that the Small Group is operating smoothly, they remain in contact with the Small Group Lead Team, and they are accountable to leadership. We ask that all Small Group Leaders sign a Ministry Covenant and/or be a member at Bethesda, and follow the expectations and qualifications for all Small Group Leaders.
