The family of Calvin Belbin are inviting friends and acquaintances to join them for a celebration of Calvin’s life on Friday (Jan 6) at 2 PM at Bethesda Pentecostal Church, 1 Escasoni Place St. John’s (click here for directions).

Calvin Wayne Belbin

October 13, 1946 - December 30, 2022

Age 76

Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre on Friday, Dec 30th, Calvin was predeceased by his father and mother, Wallace and Jessie (Mercer) Belbin.

After serving in the armed forces, Calvin became a career educator. Beginning as a teacher, he went on to hold key positions at the Department of Education, served as Assistant Superintendent of Education with the Labrador West Integrated School Board, and later as Assistant Director of Education for the Labrador School district. He retired in October 2001, the year his grandson was born. Robert was always with his pop and they had an extra special connection.

This wonderful man will be missed by all who knew him, particularly his wife Carolyn, daughter Tonya, and grandson Robert. Also his Brothers Roy (Betty), Reg (Beulah), Ivan (Fronie), David (Pat), Clyde (Wanda), Laurie (Judy), sister Greta (Bob Mills) and special cousin Eileen (Gerald Strickland). He was also close to his in-laws, the Lane Family - Jackie Down, Roy (Carrie), Don (Marilyn), Betty (who married his brother Roy noted above), Juanita (Ray Whalen), Dale (Zetta), and Renee (Carter Paddock). The list goes beyond to include all the cousins, nieces and nephews he thought of fondly and the many friends he met over the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cuddle Bed Project for Palliative Care.  with Eastern Health or the Canadian Cancer Society.
